The Blue Dragons wrestling team traveled to Wagner to attend their annual dual tournament. The team was faced with Bon Homme, Flandreau, and Faulkton in the opening pool of wrestling. Tri-Valley won the tournament while the Blue Dragons finished in 9th place. The team wrestled very competitive all day long, and was just a couple of breaks from finishing in the top 3. I know 3rd and 9th place have quite a bit of difference between them, but we really were that close. I feel our team battled hard in the opening pool of wrestling. The boys really did give themselves a chance, and I am proud of how they wrestled. Our young kids battled really hard for the benefit of the whole team, and they deserve some credit for that. After our opening pool, we were paired with Howard and Elk Point-Jefferson in the 7th - 9th place pool. We were able to move some match-ups around in the last two duals to wrestle some different faces. We will be seeing plenty of these two teams over the next few weeks. What our team really needs to do now is carry over the effort given this past Saturday to our conference tournament and the post-season. We still have some minor items to address with technique, but their effort shows me our conditioning is right on for the district tournament. Our next competition is Saturday, February 4th, at Parker for the Big East/LCC conference wrestling tournament.

This dual saw Tyler Willems and Sean McPadden get big wins for the team. They wrestled well for us. Our two seniors found life difficult, which should help focus them for the remainder of the year.
