Triangular with Dell Rapids and Chester

We wrestled in Chester on Jan. 19th at Chester. Our first dual with Chester wasn't our best performance of the year.  I understand the difficulty in preparing for a team when their will only be 6 matches, but we still have to prepare the same as any other match.  We wrestled a little sluggish and may have had our minds on the dual with Dell Rapids.  We will need to keep focus as a team for the remainder of the year to avoid any miscues along the way.

Our dual with Dell Rapids was a fun dual to watch.  It was close throughout the match.  I was glad to see that we could regain our focus after the Chester match.  We returned to our aggressive wrestling and were able to win a nice dual.  Some of our kids need to stay focused on their match and not let our opponent get into our head.  Once we lost some focus mentally, we made some silly mistakes that cost them match points.  Those match points can be very crucial to the results as we found out.  Overall, it was a nice night for our team with Thomas Howe, Cody Bonte, Tanner Donelan, Scott Howe, Isaac Lukes, Zach Lukes, Brady Bonte, and Ethan Storment all winning both matches.  Ben Westhoff lost a tough match to a highly rated wrestler from Dell Rapids.  He had the match where he needed it and made a mistake at the end.  Zach Lukes returned to the lineup after injury.  Although a bit slow, he wrestled well and found ways to win.  Time back in the room will improve his conditioning and get him back to where he was before the injury.
