Class B Duals

Well Blue Dragons fans, to say that the duals in Wagner were disappointing could be true to a point.  I feel the boys really wanted to finish in the top 6, but it just wasn't meant to happen this time.  I wouldn't call the day completely unsuccessful either though.  What I saw in the team is a need to work on our mental preparation for our matches as much if not more than our physical preparation.  Yes, there were some things we need to try to correct in our technique yet, but I felt we were lacking in our level of intensity more than anything, especially early in the day.  We started the day off by losing to Lyman County.  I have to give some credit to the boys from Lyman.  They came out aggressive and intending to take us out of matches early.  Unfortunately for us, they did it.  That first loss of the day stung a bit as I feel we are better than the product we put on the mat.  As the day went on, our level of intensity seemed to increase by each dual.  We wrestled better in our second dual against Marion/Freeman although it still wasn't our best performance.  In the third dual of the day, we wrestled Tri-Valley. With the end of our year nearing (and the fact that we will see Tri-Valley quite a bit from here on out) we used the dual as an opportunity to move some wrestlers around and insert a few others into the lineup.  While the dual score wasn't close, I was a bit more pleased with our level of actiivity on the mat.  Each of them went out with a mindset to win the match.  They wrestled more aggressively because of that.  Our final dual of the day against Elk Point/Jefferson was definitely our best performance.  Everyone stayed aggressive throughout their matches always looking to score more points.  That performance was a good one to end the day on.  Unfortunately, our day ended with us in 8th place.  Hot Springs defeated Wagner and Philip in the championship pool to win the tournament.  I'd like to thank all the fans for coming to Wagner over the weekend.
